“We come to an understanding, or one of us doesn’t leave here alive.โ€ – Jessica Fletcher

Hello and welcome to The Devil Books After His Own! This blog was originally created so I could categorize my collection of books. However, I’ve recently decided to revamp it and only post reviews and thoughts about books.

I read a lot of books growing up. We had these booklists that, if you finished โ€™em, you could get a free pizza from Pizza Hut and I always finished them. Unfortunately, I remember none of those books because my memory is legit trash. Because of this, I donโ€™t count anything as read before I created by Goodreads account in December of 2018.

A quick warning; I cuss like a goddamn sailor and I have no sense of what a spoiler is, so please read my reviews at your own risk. Iโ€™m not a professional reviewer and I donโ€™t get paid to read/review books, so you wonโ€™t get much from my reviews lol

A few things about me: People call me Tiger or Rain. I’m a female tomboy who is obsessed with the rain, cats and tacos. I love getting lost in other worlds, especially fantasy ones. Murder mysteries are the greatest, especially cozy ones, and I’ve been writing for more than half my life. My favorite color is blue and I hate reading romance. Gone are the days where we can enjoy a great story without a shred of romance.

Thanks for stopping by, letโ€™s talk about books and cats!

The Ultimate ๐Ÿฆ‘ Baldur’s Gate 3 ๐Ÿฆ‘ Reading Challenge

๐ŸŽฒ  Information & Introduction

Welcome to the Ultimate Baldurโ€™s Gate 3 Reading Challenge hosted over on TheStoryGraph! This game has swept across the world and is known for being an amazing game – because it is! So amazing and expansive that Iโ€™ve spent nearly 400 hours and still havenโ€™t finished the game.

I did my best to keep the prompts as accurate as possible without making this challenge impossible lol I recommend focusing on one character first but, if youโ€™re anything like me, youโ€™ll just make a hundred characters and do them all at once.

Many of the prompts are up to your own interpretation, so just do whatever feels right. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to read out on Discord @ AnnoyingTiger888.

If itโ€™s easier, you can also create your own challenge with just the prompts youโ€™ve chosen. Let me know if you do, Iโ€™d love to check it out.

I hope you have fun doing this challenge! ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ\(^-^

The Ultimate ๐Ÿ‘‘ Twisted Wonderland ๐Ÿ‘‘ Reading Challenge

Twisted Wonderland is one of my favorite games so, of course, I had to turn it into a reading challenge! You do not have to play/know this game in order to participate in this challenge. If you do play, though, try to answer the questions honestly instead of trying to get your favorite dorm.

I did my best to keep everything accurate to the characters and lore but I wonโ€™t say itโ€™s perfect. Prompts are also up to interpretation – do what you feel best fits! Most importantly, have fun~

You can join this challenge over on TheStoryGraph. If you have any questions or concerns, you can message me on Discord @ AnnoyingTiger888. Feel free to copy this doc and use it to keep track of your challenge.

This is the dumbest, most insane, most drug fueled book I have ever read in my entire life. I swear the god the author was tripping HARD when he wrote this shit. Like, this man was on every single drug known to mankind all at once.

And I fucking love it. Now, imagine me showing this anime to my 70 year old grandma.

โš ๏ธ WARNING! This review may contain spoilers, read at your own risk. I also cuss a lot. I am not a professional reviewer. I just read books and tell my thoughts about them, whatever they may be.

Let me start by saying that this is one of my FAVORITE movies and I didn’t know until recently that it even had a book version. Inwas quite excited but also quite worried knowing the track record with book versus movie. Now, it has been a LONG time since I watched the movie and my memory is quite trash so I don’t remember much of what happened but, after finishing the book, I feel as if the stories are quite different yet still the same – like alternate universes. Both are equally amazing, in my opinion, and I don’t believe one is better or worse than the other. I do have a strong desire to rewatch the movie though haha

Sophie is a very likeable character and I fell more in love with her after reading the book. Howl doesn’t seem quite as charming to me in the book, but Calcifer is still amazing and easily my favorite character ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ™ฅ

I didn’t take notes about this book as I read it. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but inreally have no complaints. Maybe I am biased because of my love for the movie, but I thought it was a wonderful read and I found myself smiling at the end. Though I was surprised that Miss Angorian was the demon – I wasn’t shocked by it, but it did surprise me. I’m also quite tired as I finished the book, so that might contribute to my lack of surprise.

Overall, I think this book is wonderful and I highly recommend giving it a go. You should also watch the movie because it’s chef’s kiss โ˜บ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿ’™

I’m not sure how this counts as a book, but I really enjoyed this. The voice acting was phenomenal, the plot was intriguing and, while I usually hate female leads, this one didn’t annoy me at all. I liked her, even. I don’t like the ending because now I want more lol But I tried searching for a second part and found none. I’d also like to purchase a book version of this if it’s ever released!

I struggled to put this story down even when I was exhausted. I was hooked from the beginning and just wanted to know what happened next. It’s not just someone reading the story, it’s full voice acted and it’s done so well, I know what everyone is doing without them even having to say it. It’s like… listening to a TV show. That CAN be frustrating, though, because I kept looking over at my phone to see what was happening only to remember it’s audio only haha

This should be a TV series or a movie. It’s just too good not to be.

The only thing I knew about this story is that “here’s Johnny!” meme where he sticks his face through the door. I’ve wanted to experience this book for a long time and, well… I can say with 100% certainty that this story is way too overhyped. I expected more and was left very disappointed.

This story is way too long and very boring. It was a struggle to stay focused instead of zoning out or nodding off. Both of the parents are annoying as hell, too. The sexual shit is completely unnecessary and only degrades an already bad story. I mean, look at this:

This story is insane, especially as someone who suffers from mental illness. These women are incredible and it’s hard for me to think that they would spend YEARS fighting this for people they never met or knew. To them, these weren’t just crazies locked up in asylum. To them, they were human beings that deserved better.

These women are actual angels and I feel bad for those that were locked up here.

I couldn’t help but smile and laugh. Miss Daisy is a trip and she reminds me of my grandma – stubborn as an ox and refusing help even when she needed it. This was so precious to listen to.

Angela, may you rest in peace. You were a bright light in this dark world and one of my heroes. You’re missed, but your work will live on forever.
